New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island
It is 11 am and it is time to leave Campbellton and one of our favorite Airbnb hosts, Manon and Jean-Pierre. We had a very nice time talking with them in the evening and in the morning and the breakfast was yummy.
It is the beginning of our 4th week. Today, we have 5 hours of driving ahead of us all the way to St. John, New Brunswick (NB). After 4 hours, we arrive to Fredericton, the capital of NB.
The city is way smaller than expected and the student year is over so there is nothing much happening in town. At least, we find a store where we can buy a new camera lens cup!
After 1.5 hours in Fredericton, it is time to go back on the road to get to St. John where we are going to stay for the next 2 nights at George's place, a couchsurfer who was nice enough to accept our last minute request.
We are having a well deserved lazy morning to recharge batteries and leave to visit St. John after lunch. Downtown is quite small so we quickly decide to go walking in a park and then, to the reversing waterfall before going home.
We plan to have dinner with our host tonight so we could get to know each other. It ends up in the pub not far from his house, meeting with some of his friends and playing Jenga.
The next morning, we are leaving St.John and driving all the way to Hopewell Rocks (the Bay of Fundy), one of the top - rated tourist attractions with the world's highest tides.
Make sure to plan your visit to Hopewell rocks to match the tide If you want to see both low and high tide in a couple of days. The tickets are valid for 48h.
We decide to spend our time while waiting for the low tide exploring Alma, a small village known for lobsters and lobster rolls and do a couple of walks in the Bay of Fundy National Park while waiting for the right time to go back to Hopewell Rocks at 7 pm. Even though the weather was not on our side, it was worth the wait and experience walking on the beach between the big rocks and the cliff.
Prince Edward Island (PEI)
While checking the weather forecast, we decide to spend the next few days in Prince Edward Island. The island is known for red sandy beaches, lobsters and mussels.
It is a sunny but quite windy day. We are driving 30 minutes north from our Airbnb to Prince Edward Island National park. The park is not like any others and doesn't have hiking spots but a long red sandy beach so we decide to walk along it for nearly two hours.
We have a late afternoon lunch in New Glasgow Lobster Supper, an "all you can eat" restaurant where you can only choose one main dish but all the rest is all you can eat (starter, salad and dessert). I don't eat seafood, so I go with the chicken. Look at Alban's happy face while eating lobster! :)
The next day we are wandering around Charlottetown, capital of Prince Edward Island. It's a nice sunny day with a tinny bit of wind and we walk slowly around while trying to find a place to have lunch.
It's our last day in PEI. We are driving all the way to Cape Breton tomorrow and it's supposed to be a rainy day so we are quite happy to spend it on the road.
